Bio

Dr Chew graduated from NUS with his basic medical degree (MBBS) in 1989. He obtained higher surgical qualifications and entered advanced training in orthopedics and hand surgery. He became a specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and Hand Surgery, and a member of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore in 2001.


Dr Chew received additional training in hand and microsurgery at a prestigious institute in the US. Upon his return, he became one of two surgeons registered as a specialist in both orthopedic and hand surgery. He worked at Tan Tock Seng Hospital since 1996 with clinical interests in fractures, wrist conditions, arthroscopy, reconstructive surgeries, and microsurgical procedures. His passion is patient care.


Dr Chew taught at NUS and received teaching awards from Tan Tock Seng Hospital and NUS. He trains orthopedic and hand surgeons and served on specialist training committees. Dr Chew headed the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital from 2007 to 2011. He helped establish the hospital's Hand and Microsurgery Section and headed it from 2008 to 2012 before private practice. Dr Chew also served as President of the Singapore Society for Hand Surgery from 2004-2006. He conducts clinical research and has authored journal articles and book chapters in hand surgery.
