Bio

Upon graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (MBBS, 1997), Dr Foo pursued his advanced surgical training and obtained his post graduate qualifications (MRCS Edinburgh, 2003) The same year, he received the Master of Medicine (Surgery) from the National University of Singapore. In 2007, he was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (General Surgery) as well as of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.


As part of his sub-speciality training, he trained in advanced laparoscopic techniques in gastrointestinal surgery with Dr Jean-Louis Dulucq at the Institute of Laparoscopic Surgery in Bordeaux, France. Subsequently, through the Health Manpower Development Programme Award, he pursued a one-year fellowship at the St George Hospital, Kogarah-Sydney, Australia in 2008. Under the mentorship of Dr John Jorgensen, Dr Michael Talbot and Dr Ken Loi, his skills in advanced laparoscopy, in particular upper gastrointestinal and bariatric work was further honed.


Prior to establishing his private practice, he was a consultant in the Department of General Surgery at Changi General Hospital. During his tenure, he served as the Director of the Endoscopic Centre. He is particularly keen on research involving oesophageal and gastric cancers, and bariatric and metabolic surgeries. He is also a reviewer for the Singapore Medical Journal and the World Journal of Surgical Oncology.


Outside of the hospital, he is a member of the Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore (OMSSS) and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
