Bio

Dr Annabel Chew was a Senior Consultant of the Glaucoma Department in the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). She completed her medical training with the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2005. She did her Ophthalmology residency training in Singapore and was awarded the Ministry of Health Training Award in 2010 for her specialist training. She obtained her Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) by NUS in 2011, and her specialist accreditation in Ophthalmology in 2014. She qualified as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS), and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2016. She successfully completed her Glaucoma sub-specialty fellowship training at the Singapore National Eye Centre in 2016.

Dr Chew holds various academic appointments; she is a Clinical Assistant Professor of SingHealth Duke-NUS Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Programme, and Clinical Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of NUS. Dr Chew is actively involved in postgraduate and undergraduate education of ophthalmology trainees and medical students, as well as paramedical staff, including optometrists and nurses.

Dr Chew is an Adjunct Clinician Investigator at the Singapore Eye Research Institute. Her current research interest is in Glaucoma and she actively participates in presentations at international and local conferences, and has published scientific papers in respected peer-reviewed medical journals. Within SNEC, Dr Chew is a member of the Primary Eye Care Committee, as well as a member of the Philanthropy and Development Committee.

Dr Chew’s current clinical practice includes general ophthalmology, cataract surgery, and glaucoma.
