Dr. Aileen Seah graduated from medical school at the National University of Singapore in 1995 and obtained her fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2001. She completed advanced surgical training at National University Hospital and became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine and accredited Specialist in General Surgery in 2005.
Dr. Seah was awarded the Human Manpower Development Program scholarship in 2003 and completed an accredited residency program at the University of Minnesota in 2004 under several mentors, becoming the first American-trained female colorectal surgeon in Singapore. During her 12 years of service at the National University Hospital and National University Cancer Institute Singapore, Dr. Seah managed a wide variety of colorectal and anorectal conditions, including cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders.
She developed advanced endoscopic techniques and endoscopic submucosal dissection. Dr. Seah was the director of the Pelvic Floor Center with experience in pelvic floor disorders and functional colorectal conditions. She obtained her Diploma of Acupuncture and became a registered acupuncturist in 2008 with interest in how eastern and western medicine can work together to treat conditions like functional constipation.
